Cadet Freestyle scenarios
Heading into Thursday afternoon's session, there are nine Iowans who
have clinched All-American honors in Cadet freestyle. Some of them are
done wrestling until their place matches, while several others wrestle
one round robin bout today to decide their fate.
84 - Sam Phillips wrestles Aaron Dick of Minnesota. The winner wrestles
for third and the loser wrestles for fifth.
98 - Phillip Laux has won his pool and will wrestle for the National
title Friday.
112 - Jack Hathaway has also clinched his half of the bracket and will
go after a second National title of the week on Friday.
135 - Brandon Sorensen is undefeated and wrestles Austin Eads of
Missouri in a round robin bout later today. If he wins, he makes the
Cadet freestyle finals for the second year in a row.
140 - Jake Marlin has the most scenarios in his one round robin bout. If
he wins by fall, he makes the finals. If he wins by technical fall or
decision, he wrestles for third. And if he loses, he will wrestle for
fifth.
145 - Dylan Blackford will wrestle for seventh place on Friday.
160 - Alex Meyer is 7-0 and faces 7-0 Glen Climmons of Georgia for all
the marbles later today. The winner makes the finals and the loser goes
for third.
160 - Andras Lukacs-Farkas wrestles Jacob Stillings of Wisconsin. The
winner will wrestle for third and the loser for fifth.
189 - Mickey Pelfrey battles Hashem Omari of Missouri in a round robin
bout. The winner wrestles for third and the loser drops into the
fifth-place bout.
