5th-Place Match: Mark Kist (IA) lost 4-3 in overtime to Brian Barbiaux (WI)
Kist led 1-0 at the end of the first period with a takedown. He used a nice snapdown for another takedown in the final period and used an ankle pick for a third takedown to go up 3-0. He got taken down in the final seconds of the match and taken to his back for a 3-3 tie. Kist's knee was injured in the move and he had to take a lengthy injury timeout before overtime started. He couldn't move well at all in the extra period and was taken down to fall, 4-3.

Neither wrestler scored in the first period, although Morningstar had to fight off a takedown attempt by Vernon in the final seconds to keep it scoreless. They started the last period in the clinch and Morningstar earned the point when Vernon broke his grip first. Morningstar opened up his offense on his feet and scored a takedown midway through the period for a 2-0 lead. Vernon was warned twice for false starting in the bottom position and Morningstar was awarded a penalty point for a 3-0 lead. Vernon got a late takedown and was awarded a penalty point against Morningstar for the final margin of victory.
