Mason, Fields among top juniors in the nation
BY MATT PFIFFNER The junior class in Iowa may not have the overall number of talented
wrestlers as some that have come through recently, but there are plenty of
strong individuals who will be hearing from colleges next season. A pair of Iowa high school juniors, Brandon Mason of Council Bluffs Lewis
Central at 160 and heavyweight Matt Fields of North Cedar, have been named the
top wrestlers at their respective weights in InterMat’s recently released 2003
National Top 12 Juniors rankings. Mason is a two-time State champ and has only lost one match to another Iowa
wrestler in his three years at CBLC. Fields won his first State title this
spring after finishing second last year at 215. Aaron Wernimont of Pocahontas (145) and Dane Pape of Maquoketa (215) were
