Description of the 5-1 win

1st Period:
Borschel had the best scoring opportunity midway through the period when
he came close to putting Beatty on his back on the edge of the mat, but
Beatty showed great power to avoid the takedown and the potential big
move. It appeared they would go scoreless into the 2nd, but with
less than 2 seconds to go, Beatty showed cat-like quickness in spinning
behind Borschel to open the scoring of the match.
2nd
Period: Borschel escaped after 15 seconds or so of being ridden.
Both wrestlers took shots in the 1 minute stanza, but Borschel was the
closest to scoring when he got in really deep on a single with 15 seconds
remaining. Beatty showed great flexibility and strong hips to fend
off Borschel and kept the match at a 2-1 score.
3rd
Period: Beatty took down and escaped immediately. As time
wound down, Beatty dove in on Borschel’s ankles trying to put the match
out of reach. Borschel fought Beatty off for 10 seconds trying
desperately to counter and put Beatty to his back. Beatty comes out
on top in the scramble situation with less than 10 seconds to go and wins
the match 5-1. Borschel hadn’t lost a folkstyle match to a fellow
Iowan since his freshman year when he fell at the hands of future teammate
Joey Slaton of Cedar Rapids Kennedy.
