No. 3 Loras Punishes No. 9 UW-Platteville

DUBUQUE, Iowa ( - In front of a raucous home crowd, the third-ranked Loras wrestling program put on a clinic Friday night, cruising to a 38-8 win over No. 9 UW-Platteville. The Duhawks scored bonus points in six of their eight victories, which included three falls, two tech falls and one major decision.

After opening with a decision at 125#, senior Michael Triplett started the bonus-point train with a fall at 133# over Scott Arneson. Triplett's six points started a run of five consecutive victories for the Duhawks that resulted in four or more team points and opened a 29-0 lead on the Pioneers.

-Davis recorded his fourth tech fall of the season and has outscored his opponents 73-8 in five matches
-Junior Kevin Kelly and freshman Merrick Purcell made their varsity dual debut for Loras on Friday and each won in convincing fashion, Kelly by tech fall and Purcell by major decision
-The Duhawks pitched shutouts in five of the eight victories, including four consecutive from 133 through 157
-In total, Loras held the significant advantage in takedowns, 19-4
