Jake Hiles Places Sixth at Pat “Flash” Flanagan Open

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - In the first of two home tournaments for the Loras wrestling program, freshman Jake Hilesplaced sixth in the 125# bracket on Saturday.

Hiles opened with a 14-1 major decision over UW-Platteville's Bea Harrier before scoring a 14-8 decision over Tanner Rohweder of Northern Iowa to advance to the semifinals. The Coal City, Ill. native lost by tech fall to Bryce West, who was wrestling unattached for Northern Illinois. In wrestlebacks, Hiles settled for sixth after dropping a pair of bouts by fall to Tyler Kreith and Kolby Smith of Maryville.

Loras hosts 10th-ranked Stevens next Thursday inside the Athletic & Wellness Center. The Ducks and Duhawks are meeting for the first time in program history and combine to feature ranked wrestlers at six weight classes.
