No. 5 Duhawks Make Quick Work of Beavers

DUBUQUE, Iowa ( - Following wins in nine of 10 bouts on Friday, the fifth-ranked Loras wrestling program improved to 9-0 this season with a 46-6 dual victory over Buena Vista. The Duhawks won three bouts by forfeit and three by fall, registering bonus points in seven of nine wins.

- Sophomore Matt Randone's fall at 125# set the tone for Loras right from the get-go and set off a string a four consecutive wins, three of which came with bonus points

- Senior Awais Arain recorded the lone reversal of the dual, which quickly turned the tides in his bout at 184# on his way to a major decision
- Sophomore Guy Patron Jr. improved to 3-0 against Buena Vista's Tyler Puls, with all three wins coming via fall
- The No. 5 Duhawks improved to 9-0 this season and are one of three collegiate programs in the state of Iowa that remain undefeated along with the University of Iowa and Grand View
- Arain became the fourth Loras wrestler to reach the 15-win mark this season, improving to 15-4
- Junior Kevin Kelly recorded his team-best 17th win and improved to 17-2
- The Duhawks' 46 team points are the most this season and highest since a 57-0 win over Nebraska Wesleyan last season
- Loras held a 13-2 advantage in takedowns, including nine in the first period
- Of the 11 points that the Beavers registered, seven were escapes
