For the next four days, the top-ranked Fort Dodge wrestling team will have medals on their minds.

The Dodgers are a week away from state competition and the qualifying begins tonight in a Class 3A regional dual≥

No. 16 Des Moines East will face off against 18th-ranked Ankeny in the Dodger gym. Action begins at 6 p.m.

The unbeaten Dodgers (14-0 overall) will meet the victor of the semifinal dual. The champion will advance to state duals in Des Moines next Wednesday.

“Our kids are ready (for the postseason),” said Fort Dodge head coach Bobby Thompson. “We had a good week of practice and are eager to get the postseason started. For the most part, we are sharp right now and ready to go.

“A lot of teams are struggling through illnesses right now, but for the most part we are healthy.”
