Team USA Rallies Past Japan, 7-3

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The United States men’s freestyle wrestling team won seven straight to rally past Japan, 7-3, on Saturday afternoon at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

The U.S. outscored Japan 29-12 in qualifications points, and led in match points, 76-24. Team USA finishes Day 1 of pool play with a 2-0 record. The U.S. can clinch a berth in the Gold Medal match with a win against Georgia on Sunday at 10 a.m. (CT).

The World Cup resumes Sunday at 10 a.m. Single-day tickets are $40 for adults, $25 for youth 18-years-old and younger. “The Eastern Iowa Airport Family Four Pack” is $100. Admission to “Gable’s Garden” is free with any World Cup ticket.
