The Wrap from Day 5 of the Cadet World Championships: Kilty claims gold, Dias grabs bronze

Freestyle concluded Friday at the Cadet World Championships with the final women’s medal round and the United States added another gold and a bronze to its hardware haul. Macey Kilty captured the 69-kilogram title by pulling away after the break to beat Sweden’s Julia Fridlund 9-3 and Sterling Dias pinned Turkey’s Elif Iskin to claim a bronze at 40 kilograms. The Americans went 2-2 in the medal round as India’s Devi Sanju scored a takedown in the closing seconds to beat Olivia Shore 5-4 for a bronze at 46 kilograms and Mongolia’s Erdenesuvd Bat Erdene downed Leilah Castro 6-0 for a bronze at 53 kilograms.
