Storm Win Four in Narrow Loss to Augustana

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- The Simpson wrestling team won four of seven contested matches and picked up three, bonus-point wins, but couldn't get past Augustana in a 27-23 loss Thursday night.

Damon Piatt and Shyler Langley won major decisions and DeVaughn Scott scored a pin in his first match of the season for the Storm (0-4), who were hurt by an unexpected forfeit after an injury at 149.

Adarios Jones pinned Sam Mathis at 285 to give the Vikings (1-2) the win after trailing 23-21 going into the last match.

Dylan McChesney picked up a forfeit at 125 pounds and Blake Bauer beat Neil O'Shaughnessy 9-4 at 157.

Simpson trailed 21-9 when Piatt beat Frankie Faasen 17-4 at 174. Langley kept the momentum going with a 15-5 win over Hunter Holdcraft at 184. Scott earned his 31st career pin by taking down Triston Richardson in 2:59, giving the Storm a 23-21 lead.
