Rodriguez Places as WPU Battles at Simpson Invitational

Indianola--Sheldon Rodriguez (Jr., Tampa, Fla., Biology) won a pair of matches to guide the William Penn wrestling team at the Luther L. Hill Invitational hosted by Simpson Saturday.

The 197-pounder won his first match by fall, but dropped his quarterfinal bout.  He then picked up another pin before falling once more and ended up taking eighth with a 2-2 record.

Nadhelo Charles-Pierre (So., Miramar, Fla., Sports Management) also pinned an opponent at 125 pounds, while 157-pounder Dennis Simmons (Jr., Tucson, Ariz., Sociology) collected a win Saturday as well.

Overall, the Statesmen placed 12th out of 17 teams with 13 points, while Augsburg (Minn.) won the crown with 159 points.

Next Up: William Penn travels to Baldwin City, Kan. next Tuesday to face Baker in a Heart of America Athletic Conference dual at 7 p.m.
