How did you get started in wrestling?
My cousin always wrestled and talked me into it in 4th grade and I really enjoyed it.
Did your older brothers wrestle with you? Beat on you?
Yes and at first he did and I caught up and then he didn’t beat on me as bad.
Did you catch on to wrestling quickly or was it a gradual process?
I actually caught on to wrestling very well and pretty quickly.
How much did your dad get involved with your wrestling?
I would say more and more as the years went on.
Did you wrestle in a club growing up, and if you did, how would you describe your experience with the club?
I just wrestled for the school's little kids wrestling team. It was a lot of fun and I always had a good time.
What are a couple memorable moments from youth/junior high wrestling?
I didn’t really have any memories that come to mind, just the bus rides with my teammates and the good times we had.
Who were your wrestling heroes growing up?
I always looked up to my brother when I was little but I never really paid close attention out side of high school wrestling.
How did you finish at state tournaments as a youth?
I actually only went to districts once and I didn’t make it. So this was my first state tournament.
You defeated three guys at the state tournament that all placed, how did you prepare for them?
Just went in open minded and didn’t think much of it.
What was the Grand March like for you?
I thought it was pretty cool walking down in front of thousands of people.
Was there ever a point in your career where you noticed yourself jumping levels and making improvements?
Yes, at the beginning of the year.
Who were some of your toughest competitors in high school?
Probably the last three kids at state.
Who did you have the best battles with?
I would say the last kid of my season just because I lost.
What is your favorite style of wrestling, Folkstyle, Freestyle or Greco-Roman? And why?
Folkstyle. The only reason I like freestyle is because this is the only kind of wrestling I do. I’ve never tried any other kind.
On a normal year how many tournaments or matches do you get in?
What are your wrestling goals for the upcoming high school season?
Winning state is your goal for the upcoming year, what preparations are you doing do achieve this goal?
Working my tail off lifting and practicing with some guys in college.
What are some of your favorite tournaments?
Do you like dual tournaments or individual tournaments and why?
Dual, because I like being able to win with my team.
How would you describe your wrestling style? Who would you compare yourself to?
I would say funky like Ben Askren but maybe not quite as funky.What goals do you have going into your senior year?Win state.
Do you play other sports and how have you done at them?
I play football and I got second team all state.
Do a lot of your wrestling teammates do multiple sports?
Yes most of them do.
How successful is Central Lyon in those sports?
Pretty successful. There’s a lot of talented kids.
What are some of your hobbies besides wrestling?
You are a farmer do you have livestock? If so what do you raise?
I raise 100 head and 5 cow calves and bottle calves. My dad has 60 cows and I help take care of 6000 hogs. And dad has 60 cows.
What do you do in the summertime to keep busy?
Work for my dad.
What is some of the best advice you ever received, and who gave you that advice?
Anything can happen with hard work and thats from my coaches.
Do you have any advice for up and coming wrestlers?
Anything can happen if you work your butt off.
Who were some of the most influential coaches you worked with?
It’s hard to think of one, when my whole coaching staff is always there trying to make me better so I would say all my high school coaches.
What does the near future look like for Central Lyon Wrestling?
I think it looks pretty good we have a lot of guys who work hard so it will be a good year.
Is wrestling in your future, whether it be competing or coaching?
Maybe coaching. But not wrestling after high school.
Have you been able to take college visits?
No not yet.
