Central places 14 on conference winter academic list

PELLA — Central College landed 14 student-athletes on the winter sports American Rivers Conference all-academic team Wednesday

The Dutch women’s basketball team led the way with 10 honorees. Sami Craig (senior, Altoona, Southeast Polk HS) was honored for the third time. Jenna Clark (junior, Story City, Roland-Story HS) and Maci Gambell (junior Hedrick, Pekin HS) were awarded for the second year in a row.

Wrestler Griffen McBride (senior, Pleasantville) earned his third all-academic recognition and was joined by first-time honorees Peyton Hammerich (sophomore, Princeton, Ill.) and Julian Rodriguez (sophomore, Escondido, Calif.).

Sophomore Bradon Annegers (Stronghurst, Ill., West Central HS) represents the Central College men’s basketball team on the list.

To qualify for the distinction, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in academic standing with one year at his/her current school, achieve a 3.5 GPA or better and compete at the varsity level.
